Floating Shelves
Ready-made floating shelf systems positioned, leveled, and installed with their intended mounting hardware.
Chicago Handyman Service
MainteGO installs floating shelves, bracket shelves, closet shelves, and ready-made wall storage in Chicago homes, condos, and rentals. We measure the layout, position and level the shelves, install the supplied mounting system, and plan spacing around furniture, trim, outlets, and doors.
Tell us what the shelves will hold and send the product link, dimensions, bracket details, and full-wall photos. Books, dishes, plants, pantry items, and lightweight decor create different load requirements, so intended use matters as much as appearance.

Common project types
From one display shelf to a full wall of storage, the layout starts with what the shelves need to hold and what is behind the wall.
Compatible floating shelves positioned and leveled using the supplied mounting system and a suitable supporting wall.
Wood, laminate, or metal shelves installed on compatible brackets for practical storage or display.
Ready-made closet shelves and supported organizer components installed within an accessible, measured opening.
Several shelves aligned across a wall with spacing planned around furniture, outlets, trim, and the items intended for display.
Plan for the real load
Shelf depth, intended load, mounting hardware, and the material behind the finished wall influence placement and compatibility.
Drywall over framing, plaster and lath, brick, and masonry require different fastening plans and may restrict exact placement.
Books, dishes, plants, and decorative objects create different load requirements that should be identified before installation.
Provide shelf dimensions, bracket spacing, manufacturer instructions, and all included hardware so compatibility can be reviewed.
Outlets, switches, vents, trim, doors, and suspected concealed utilities should be shown in wider photos of the proposed area.
Measure the shelf area
For Shelving Installation, the photos, dimensions, product information, and access notes below help prevent missing parts or an unsuitable setup.
Send the product link, shelf length and depth, bracket type, instructions, and included hardware.
List books, dishes, plants, pantry goods, decor, or other intended contents.
Show the full wall and identify drywall, plaster, brick, masonry, or any known repairs.
Include shelf count, target height, spacing, and nearby outlets, switches, vents, trim, pipes, or doors.
Chicago project planning
Drywall, plaster and lath, brick, and masonry all appear in Chicago properties. Show cracks, previous anchors, or repaired areas, and confirm drilling permission if the work is in a rental or condo.
Layout, support, installation
A shelf for books needs a different plan than one holding a few framed photos.
Send the shelf product, dimensions, expected contents, and all supplied brackets and fasteners.
Share the preferred height and spacing plus a wide photo of outlets, trim, doors, vents, and furniture.
The shelves are positioned, fastened with the planned method, and checked for level and practical clearance.
Shelving Installation FAQ
We install common ready-made floating shelves, bracket shelves, closet shelves, and wall-storage components. Send the shelf dimensions, mounting system, instructions, and a photo of all supplied hardware.
They may be, depending on the wall's condition, the shelf design, and what the shelf will hold. Older plaster, repaired areas, and masonry require different fastening plans, so show cracks, old holes, and the full wall in your photos.
Capacity depends on the shelf, brackets, fasteners, wall structure, placement, and the manufacturer's rating. Tell us whether the shelf is for books, dishes, plants, pantry goods, or light decor so the plan reflects its real use.
Have the shelf system and its product-specific hardware identified before the visit. If you have not purchased it yet, send the wall measurements and intended use first so compatibility can be considered before you order.
Include shelf length and depth, bracket spacing, target height, and a wide photo showing outlets, switches, vents, trim, doors, and nearby furniture. For several shelves, mark the preferred spacing or send a simple layout.
List every component and where it belongs. Ready-made systems can often be planned together when the opening is measured, the parts are complete, and the wall can support the proposed layout.
We will not treat a decorative shelf and a heavily loaded storage shelf as the same job. The position, hardware, or shelf may need to change. Structural reinforcement or custom built-ins require a separate carpentry scope.
